Elma Locker & Grocery, Inc. excels in the process of curing and smoking meats.  We are approaching our 7th year in business and have brought home 14 awards in a short time.  Our bacon has improved from 5th place at the Iowa Meat Processors Convention in February 2012 to 2nd place at the state in 2013.

Elma Locker & Grocery, Inc. is owned and operated by Roger and Karen Meirick, and Joe and Pat Meirick.  Joe and Roger are cousins.  Together they decided the town of Elma, IA and surrounding communities needed this kind of business after the grocery store and the locker closed their doors.  We opened our doors for business on October 16, 2006.

Since opening our doors on October 16, 2006, the Elma Locker & Grocery, Inc. has brought home many awards from the Iowa Meat Processors Association Convention and Trade Show.  The Iowa Meat Processors Association Convention and Trade Show is held yearly in Ames, Iowa.  There are twenty classes that a meat processor can enter.  The products are judged by a team of thirty professionals from Iowa State University and several other universities as well as some industry experts.  Products are scored on external and internal appearance, flavor and aroma, and workmanship. Awards are as follows: Grand Champion is first place, Reserve Grand Champion is second place, Champion is third place, and Reserve Champion is fourth place.  We started entering our meat products to be judged at the convention in 2008.
